Lionel Cineas is a filmmaker based in Brooklyn, New York. After studying economics at the University at Albany, he began working in the television, film, and commercial industry, starting out as an intern on a Spike Lee executive produced film. From there, Cineas has worn many hats in production, gaining valuable and hands-on experience that has helped in the production of his own short films.
Cineas has written and directed 5 short films (“Fresh", "Young Girl", "Land of Dreams", "Weekend Lover” and "The Nurturing of Men”), which explore a variety of themes from heartbreak and passion to social justice and religious faith. To produce and direct his latest project, The Nurturing of Men (2016), Cineas successfully raised $15,000 through a Kickstarter campaign.
When he isn’t directing he works as an Assistant Director, working on films such as Fan Girl (ABC Family) and Spike Lee’s Red Hook Summer. and on commercials for notable brands such as Lowe’s home improvement, Cadillac, and Gillette.
Cineas is currently developing his first feature film.
